How we work
The shirt is cut from your own pattern. The pattern stays with us, and the next shirt starts with choosing the cloth.
A made-to-measure shirt starts at our atelier at Avenida da Liberdade 110. We take your measurements, and you choose the cloth, the collar, the cuffs and the buttons. From the measurements we draft your pattern, and the pattern goes to Naples.
The Naples factory has been making shirts for close to a hundred years. The buttonholes are sewn by hand, and so is the sleeve into the armhole. Four weeks later the shirt is back in Lisbon, and you try it on at the atelier.

Cloth and details
You choose the cloth from the Albini and Thomas Mason books. Together we decide on the collar, cuffs, buttons and where to embroider your initials.

Naples
The shirt is made from your pattern at the factory in Naples. Buttonholes and armholes are sewn by hand.
second visit
Fitting
You try on the finished shirt at the atelier. If anything needs adjusting, we do it here in Portugal.

A tuxedo shirt usually has double cuffs for cufflinks and a collar made for a bow tie. It is worn in the evening, to a dinner or a wedding.

White for every day
A white shirt goes with a suit, with a jacket and without one. In Lisbon you spend a lot of the year without a jacket, and that is when you see how a shirt sits on the shoulders and along the sleeve.

Stripes show at once how a shirt was made: whether the pattern lines up on the placket, the collar and the cuff. Striped cloth comes from the same Albini and Thomas Mason books.

Cloth and factory
Italian cloth, sewn in Naples
You choose the cloth from the swatch books at the atelier. The shirt is made at a factory in Naples that is close to a hundred years old.
Albini
since 1876
Run today by the fifth generation of the Albini family. The mill spins, dyes, weaves and finishes its own cloth.
Thomas Mason
since 1796
Its cloth has been used for Turnbull & Asser shirts since 1936. Royal Oxford is one of its weaves.

The price depends on the cloth and is confirmed at the atelier once you have chosen it. To give a shirt as a present, there is the gift card, digital or printed in a sealed envelope.

How long does a made-to-measure shirt take?

How much does a made-to-measure shirt cost in Lisbon?
From €350. The final price depends on the cloth, and the monogram is included.
Where is the shirt made?
At a factory in Naples with close to a hundred years behind it. Measurements are taken in Lisbon, at our atelier at Avenida da Liberdade 110.
How many times do I need to come to the atelier?
Twice. On the first visit we take your measurements and you choose the cloth. Four weeks later you try on the finished shirt.
How is it different from a ready-made shirt?
Tailor-made, bespoke or made to measure, the idea is the same: the shirt is cut from your own pattern, in the cloth you chose, with the collar and cuffs you decided on. Buttonholes and armholes are sewn by hand. The pattern is kept for your next shirts.
What if the shirt needs adjusting after the fitting?
That is what the fitting is for. Try the shirt on at the atelier and tell us what you would change: if it needs adjusting, we do it here in Portugal, without sending it back to Naples.
What is sewn by hand?
The buttonholes and setting the sleeve into the armhole. If you like, the whole shirt can be sewn by hand; ask us about the terms.

Albini and Thomas Mason. The swatch books are at the atelier.
Can I have a monogram on my shirt?
Yes, on the left cuff or at the waist, the Italian way. The monogram is included in the price.
Do I need to be measured again for my next shirt?
Usually not. The pattern stays with us, so you can order the next shirts by WhatsApp or email, choosing the cloth. We ship worldwide.
I don't live in Lisbon. Can I still order?
Yes, if you can come in twice: for the measurements and, four weeks later, for the fitting. After that, you can order the next shirts from anywhere and we ship them to you.
